The kite is a twist on the traditional Afghani fighter kite. It is decorated with the national animal of Afghanistan, the Snow Leopard. Written on the kite are the numbers 1298 which in the Gregorian calendar translate to 2019. It commemorates the 100th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence from the UK.

The 1298 kite was proudly displayed in Clerkenwell design week at BDP architects, for a project sponsored by Camira fabric.
