A private commission to create an elegant media console in Oak that would hide all of the client’s cables and AV equipment.

Marquetry and grain direction is being used to create a simple but powerful piece, hitting a middle ground between a modern monolith and a mid-century sideboard. The carcass is made from BB Baltic birch plywood lapped in solid oak on all edges and bookmatch veneered on all faces with quatersawn European oak.

The corners of the cabinet are mitred with hidden floating tenons and have splines in fumed Eucalyptus. The plinth is also made from the same fumed Eucalyptus as the splines.
